Poland has more family days than most of Europe, and nearly all of them are on fixed dates. Grandmothers’ Day, Dzień Babci, is 21 January and Grandfathers’ Day, Dzień Dziadka, is the day after. Mother’s Day, Dzień Matki, is 26 May, Children’s Day is 1 June, and Father’s Day, Dzień Ojca, is 23 June.

Women’s Day on 8 March is still widely kept, often with flowers. In December, Mikołajki on the 6th comes before Christmas Eve, Wigilia, the biggest family evening of the year.

With this many, there is a reason to call a parent or grandparent almost every month.
