Portugal keeps Mother’s Day, the Dia da Mãe, on the first Sunday of May, a week before most of the world. Father’s Day, the Dia do Pai, is 19 March, the feast of St Joseph.

Grandparents’ Day, the Dia dos Avós, is 26 July, the feast of St Anne and St Joachim, the grandparents of Jesus. In the middle of summer, it is a simple reason to visit or call the grandparents in your life.
